British tenor Alexander Sprague read music at Durham University before going on to study at the Royal Academy of Music and The National Opera Studio, London. Since then he has worked as a principal for the Royal Opera House, English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, Opera North and Scottish Opera. Alexander’s international engagements include the Salzburg Festival, Royal Danish Opera, Opera National de Lorraine, Stadttheater Stuttgart, Atlanta Opera and the Wexford Festival Opera.

 

Alexander is also in demand on the concert platform and has performed as a soloist at venues including Sally Pleyel, Paris, Stavanger Concert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Wigmore Hall, Cadogen Hall, London and Birmingham Symphony Hall with the CBSO.

During his studies at The National Opera Studio and The Royal Academy of Music, London he was supported by the Nicholas John Trust, the Josephine Baker Trust and was the recipient of the Kohn Bach Foundation Scholarship. He is the winner of the Michael Oliver Prize of the London Händel Singing Competition and a former Britten Pears Foundation Scholarship recipient.
